What "near me" should actually mean
Distance is the easiest thing to search for and the least useful thing to buy on. What matters is whether the surveyor knows the stock, and whether they will turn up when you need them.
Someone who knows the housing
A surveyor who works your area has already seen the estates, the eras and the recurring defects. Coal workings under one town, wall-tie failure in the 1930s semis of another, back-to-back terraces with no rear access in a third. That is the difference between a report that describes a house and one that recognises it.
Someone who can actually get there
A firm two hundred miles away can still take the instruction and subcontract it. We only accept work in the 341 postcode districts listed below, which is why the coverage on this page is drawn from the same live data that decides whether we can take your job.
Someone RICS regulated
"Surveyor" is not a protected title. RICS regulation means a complaints procedure, compulsory professional indemnity insurance and a standard the report must meet. Check any firm on the RICS register before you instruct them, including this one.
Not necessarily the closest
